Bronx is one of the five boroughs that make up New York City. The borough, New York's most northern, is notable for its zoo, several museums, professional baseball and theaters. Residents as well as those from elsewhere have a variety of options to choose from when pursing higher education. More information about colleges in the Bronx can be attained using a variety of methods.

Visit a bookstore or library. Ask to be directed to the area where college directories are located. These directories contain basic overviews of numerous schools. Peruse through one or two guidebooks to get basic information about degree programs, annual tuition and required fees, admissions standards and housing options.

Visit schools' official websites. If you do not know the names of schools in the area, do a general online search to get a listing of school sites. To save time, narrow your search according to the type of college you are interested in attending such as community colleges, four-year colleges or religious schools. Other factors to consider include majors and athletics.

Go to a college fair. To talk to an admission representative and get literature at the same time, attend a college fair. Schools from the borough are generally represented at college fairs in New York, New England and New Jersey. Outside of the Northeast, alumni may represent the the school of your choice at various college fairs.

Attend an open house. To get an up close introduction to a college, attend an open house. Check the school's website for dates. At an open house, generally, tours of several buildings, like the library, gymnasium, student union and residence halls, are given. There may be seminars on several topics, such as housing, financial aid, student activities and admissions, as well.

Request materials. Send a email or post card to the colleges in the Bronx you are interested in, requesting information. Remember to request your materials early to meet admissions and financial aid deadlines.
